Halloween Crafts this Half-Term

Enjoy some fun and spooky time together this half term in the build up to Halloween.
1. Vampire Bat Leaves
Go on a family walk together during a dry day to collect some leaves. When you get home, paint the leaves black. Once dry, grab a white marker pen and put some faces and teeth on them!
You could always use a hole punch to make a garland of them to hang above your hallway.

2. Carve a pumpkin together
This is a great activity which can take as little or as long as you like. There are some great templates on the internet to help inspire you as well.
Sit up at your dining table and place down a few old newspapers or dust sheets if you have them. Have a chopping board or a large bowl to hand for the spare pumpkin flesh. Adult supervision will be required, but many shops now sell useful pumpkin carving kits which can be very helpful.
3. Use your leftover pumpkin
Don’t let your pumpkin go to waste! Pumpkin has many great health benefits, including many vitamins such as C and E, which can be very good for our skin.
One meal you can prepare in the kitchen with your leftovers is a tasty pumpkin curry. You can always spice it up if you would prefer a hotter curry to enjoy once the kids are in bed.
If you have more of a sweet tooth, pull up a bar stool while your children pull up on a dining bench and start baking! Pumpkin cakes are delicious, and often healthier as the pumpkin can be used to replace parts or all of the butter.

1. Make a G-G-GHOST
Grab an old white sheet from your bedroom and draw a ghostly face near the centre of the sheet, and then cut a small hole just above the face. Finally, thread a piece of string through the hole and attach it to a balloon on the other end. When you hang this from the ceiling you’ll have a hovering ghost in your home.

4. Decorate your own Trick or Treat bucket
Whether you have a spare bucket, or you’ve purchased a cheap one from the supermarket, let your kids jazz it up and put their own personal stamp on it. They could paint it, add some glitter or stickers, or stick some 3D googly eyes on it.
5. Build your own monsters
Use an empty tissue box or toilet roll tubes to let your little monsters build their own. Great pieces of craft kit to use would be paint, tissue paper, plus felt balls and felt wires to create noses and arms. Don’t forget to give these creatures their own silly or scary faces. Then Dot them around the living room to keep you company this Halloween!
