If you’re thinking of taking the next step on the path towards freshening up your home but not sure where to start? Allow us to provide some inspiration for you with the new colour of the upcoming year that is going to have a huge impact on interiors – Peach Fuzz.

In this year’s Color of the Year selection process, Pantone observed a heightened appreciation and awareness of nature represented by countless lifestyle trends. We’re incorporating more living things into our homes, such as plants, flowers, living walls, and restorative outdoor spaces.

Whether this is through an accent colour using a variety of accessories, or a bespoke sofa that is unique to your living room, is entirely up to you! With so much choice it can be difficult to know where to start but we have collated some ideas that will hopefully inspire you to get creative.

A Brief History of Pantone's Colour of The Year

History

The Pantone Color Institute originally created the Pantone Color of the Year educational program in 1999 to engage the design community and colour enthusiasts around the world in a conversation about colour. We wanted to draw attention to the relationship between culture and colour.

We wanted to highlight to our audience how what is taking place in our global culture is expressed and reflected through the language of colour. This thought process rings just as true today just as it did back in 1999. That’s one of the major reasons why, each year, so many around the world look forward to our Pantone Color of the Year announcement.

Colour is ultimately used to express emotions and inspire, and is a powerful visual tool to be tapped into and to influence a mood. Peach Fuzz will fit into a dynamic and flexible colour scheme to use as you wish.

Ease, comfort and respite are key qualities to conveying enduring sophistication. Pantone is in the business of colour. Since 1963, Pantone has provided colour solutions for colour needs. Today Pantone’s colour language is used by designers worldwide to access colour trends, communicate colour choices, and control the consistency of colour across every imaginable surface, texture, material, and finish.

About Peach Fuzz

Peach Fuzz is a velvety gentle peach whose all-embracing spirit enriches heart, mind, and body. A light, delicate shade that sits between pink and orange, Peach Fuzz marks the 25th anniversary of Pantone's Color of the Year program. This soft, heartfelt hue expresses the desire to nurture kindness, compassion, and connection—all while fostering a deep cosiness
as we seek a peaceful future. The colour is an evolution of the company's Color of the Year for 2023, Viva Magenta.

Pantone believes that, over the past few years, we’ve come to know our priorities better and appreciate the time dedicated to enjoying the people and places we love. Peach Fuzz reflects that with its warm and inviting colour, but the name also reflects the importance of touch. "We selected [the name] very thoughtfully because it's the tactile aspect of the colour that's so very important as well as the vision of the colour," explains Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.

In the form of a knitted blanket or a faux fur rug, Peach Fuzz welcomes a sense of security and ease. The colour also reflects our craving for the past, delight in the now, and hope for life ahead. "Something else we've been seeing this whole year is this idea of future nostalgia, reaching back to times when things were simpler," Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute.

"But at the same time, it's been refashioned to display a more contemporary ambience—one whose gentle lightness and airy presence lifts us into the future." On reasons why choosing Peach Fuzz as their colour of the year, Pantone stated “It needed to be a colour whose warm and welcoming embrace conveyed a message of compassion and empathy. One that was nurturing and whose cosy sensibility brought people together and elicited a feeling of tactility.

One that reflected our feelings for days that seemed simpler but at the same time has been rephrased to display a more contemporary ambience. One whose gentle lightness and airy presence lifts us into the future.”

How to use Peach Fuzz in Your Home & Interiors

Visually arresting and inviting, Peach Fuzz is a nurturing peach tone that inspires us to instinctively want to reach out and touch. Conveying a message of tactility that comes through in sueded, velvety, quilted, and furry textures, luxuriously soothing and soft to the touch, Peach Fuzz is an enveloping peach hue that awakens our senses to the comforting presence of tactility and cocooned warmth. Introducing Peach Fuzz into home interiors creates a welcoming ambience.

Promoting feelings of gentle warmth whether appearing on a painted wall, in home décor, or acting as an accent within a pattern, Peach Fuzz infuses our most personalised worlds with a comforting presence. If you're eager to incorporate Peach Fuzz into your home, it can be used in many more ways than you might think.

When it comes to design styles, the colour has a retro quality fit for traditional-style interiors, but it simultaneously boasts contemporary energy—making it perfect for those who love to mix old and new pieces in their home.

When bringing Peach Fuzz into your space, allow yourself to get creative. Along with a dreamy wall paint hue, the colour can be used as a pop of colour in artwork. Peach Fuzz can also act as a subtle complementary colour in detailed fabrics that take shape as throw pillows or bedding.

Since most interiors are not completely monochromatic, Pantone have also put together a range of colour palettes centred on Peach Fuzz that serve as inspiration when tackling your next home makeover. At first glance, the Pantone Color of the Year 2024 may seem at odds with the tidal wave of natural blues and still-relevant greens emphasised by other brands in their 2024 trend forecasting. But Peach Fuzz can elevate those colours by creating a sense of harmony with them.

Materially speaking, Peach Fuzz offers a light, effervescent contrast to solid surfaces like stone or polished concrete. It’s a brightened contrast to darker wood and metal finishes but can integrate cohesively with light oaks or brighter metallics too. For those not ready to go all in on enlivening their interiors in the fruity hue, the Pantone Color of the Year 2024 fosters a compassionate connection and easy conversation as simply an accent wall or soft furnishings. Peach Fuzz also works well as a warmed-up neutral colour to combine with beiges and
browns.

1. Statement Walls:
Peach Fuzz can instantly transform a room when used as a statement wall colour. Whether it's your living room, bedroom, or even a cosy reading nook, consider painting one wall in Peach Fuzz to create a focal point. This subtle yet inviting hue provides a canvas for other
décor elements to shine.

2. Soft Furnishings:
Introduce Peach Fuzz through soft furnishings like throw pillows, blankets, and curtains. These accents can bring a touch of elegance to any space without overwhelming the overall aesthetic. Mixing Peach Fuzz with neutral tones or complementary shades can create a
harmonious and inviting atmosphere.

3. Botanical Harmony:
Pair Peach Fuzz with indoor plants to evoke a natural and calming ambience. The soft tones of Peach Fuzz complement the greens of plants, creating a harmonious connection with nature. Consider incorporating potted plants, hanging planters, or even a botanical-themed wallpaper for a refreshing look.

4. Artistic Accents:
Infuse Peach Fuzz into your home through art pieces and accessories. Whether it's a piece of wall art, a sculpture, or decorative vases, these accents can add a touch of sophistication and visual interest. The colour's subtlety allows it to enhance the overall aesthetic without overshadowing other design elements.

5. Open Shelving and Displays:
Peach Fuzz can be showcased on open shelving or display cabinets, providing a gentle pop of colour amid your décor items. Consider organising books, ceramics, or collectables against this soothing backdrop to create a curated and visually appealing display.

6. Tonal Harmony:
Experiment with tonal harmony by combining Peach Fuzz with shades from the same colour family. Lighter and darker variations of peach can be strategically incorporated to create depth and interest. This monochromatic approach adds a sense of cohesion while allowing Peach Fuzz to take centre stage.
