Outlet, Sale and Clearance - What’s The Difference?

Outlet, Sale and Clearance - What’s The Difference?

Outlet, Sale and Clearance are three terms that are often used interchangeably in the world of retail, but they actually refer to different types of promotions.

So, what's the difference between Clearance, Outlet, and Sale? Clearance refers to one-off and sold-as-seen items available to purchase in store only. Whilst Outlet offers brand new, out of the box products that are usually end of the line and at a reduced price. These are also usually available for quick delivery, whilst stocks last! Sales, on the other hand, are promotions that offer discounts on specific items or product categories for a limited period of time. While all three types of promotions offer discounts, they apply to different types of merchandise and are used for different purposes.

Outlet

Clearance and Outlet are usually thought of as the same type of thing. However, our Outlet is home to large stocks of new furniture (still in the box) with exclusive promotion & special prices, along with express delivery.
These products are brand new and out of the box and available whilst stocks last.

Unlike Clearance, Outlet products are available to purchase both in-store and online.
If shopping in-store, items are clearly marked with specific tickets advertising the special price, usually a “Special Purchase” price ticket in yellow and black.
Items on our website are also clearly indicated with the words “Outlet Price”.

There are no defects to Outlet products, so the reduction in price will not be as significant as a Clearance product.
Outlet products are usually end of the line ranges, typically discontinued either by suppliers or by ourselves as the seasons change and end up in our Outlet due to still having stocks.

Sale

Sale

A Sale is a type of promotion where we offer discounts on products for a limited period of time.
Our Sales are store-wide and online, where they apply only to specific items or product categories and exclude Clearance or Outlet products, as these are already significantly reduced in price.

Our Sales can take place at any time of the year, often seasonally, such as Winter Sale or Spring Sale. These can last for anything from a few days such as Black Friday, to weeks, or even a couple of months.

During our Sales, we offer a saving off our recommended retail prices across sofas, chairs, dining tables, beds and bedrooms, and other furniture items - including leading brand names such as Parker Knoll, G Plan and Hypnos.

We have Sale Prices and sometimes we even have Extra Discounts off all Sale Prices - an even further saving!
It's important to note that not all of our Sales are created equal
.
Some of our Sales may offer deeper discounts than others, i.e. when we have a 4 Day Event.

Clearance

Although we have Clearance events and promotions, our Clearance furniture is available pretty much the majority of the time during the year. Clearance furniture consists of available in-store only deals that are one-off and sold-as-seen pieces that have mainly been gently used on display in stores.
These pieces have been meticulously maintained and are in excellent condition, with only minor wear and tear that comes with being displayed.

You are able to enjoy exceptional savings without compromising on quality!
Clearance furniture features an extensive range of styles, from modern and contemporary to classic and traditional, all available at unbeatable prices.

Whether you're looking for a statement sofa, a chic dining table, or a comfortable bed, you're sure to find something that suits your style and budget. You will also find some amazing savings on leading brand names such as Parker Knoll, G Plan and Stressless to name a few.

One of the advantages to purchasing clearance products is you don't have to wait for delivery or assembly. You can take your chosen pieces home with you right away, making it the perfect choice for those who need instant gratification. And, with Cousins’ verified excellent customer service and after-sales support, you can rest assured that your purchase will be a hassle-free experience.

Clearance items are typically sold at a significant discount, and are often displayed with a specific type of ticket on them with the words “Reduced To Clear” and are usually handwritten in our stores.

Due to Clearance consisting of one-off products, you have to be quick.. As once they’re gone, they’re gone!
