Cousins Supports Earth Day through Reclaimed, Sustainable Partners and Recycling
In light of the globally recognised Earth Day, we want to draw your attention to supporting environmental protection. The global initiative includes a wide range of events that involve 1 billion people in more than 193 countries. As a family-run business, we recognise that taking care of our environment is important. We are pleased to recycle more and more of our packaging and to offer opportunity to old furniture collection.
We've also partnered with the British Heart Foundation and Clearabee to help customers have their furniture collected before delivery. Recycling old furniture is an essential part of diverting waste from landfill; also to create an opportunity to help your furniture find new homes. British Heart Foundation will then sell it in one of their 700+ charity shops throughout the UK. The proceeds from your furniture will then help fund towards life-saving research. So, not only will you have removed the old furniture from your home, but you will have helped towards a very worthy cause. This service is also free of charge.
Our reclaimed wood ranges are popular and natural. More environmentally friendly than new wood, a lot of reclaimed furniture was previously used in barns, households, or businesses before being removed. The timber is then treated, refinished and renovated, keeping all of the original patina, marks and texture. Many of our reclaimed ranges are made from sustainably resourced reclaimed timbers - wood harvested from forests that are responsibly managed, socially beneficial, environmentally conscious, and economically viable.
Some of Cousins planting partners, such as Baker Furniture, are using Trees4Trees. This is a non-profit foundation focused on renewing the environment and empowering local communities through reforestation and education. For every $1 donation or tree used, a healthy tree is planted in a community forest.

A well-known luxury bed brand, Harrison Spinks have been providing people with a good night’s sleep since 1840. Still a family-run business, every bed starts its journey on a 300-acre farm in North Yorkshire. In line with Earth Day, the farmers rear prize sheep for their wool and grow the fibres that go into the bespoke, pocket-sprung mattress fillings.

Book a date with them that’s convenient for you, and they will collect your old furniture, giving you more space to arrange for the arrival of the new furniture you are looking forward to. *There is a charge for this service depending on the furniture which needs to be collected and recycled.
