Why Did the Cousins Furniture Store in Manchester Close?

The Cousins Furniture Manchester store closed as part of a strategic decision to consolidate the business back into the Midlands after the company received an opportunity to sell and redevelop the Manchester site.

The Manchester showroom originally opened in 2004 and became a flagship destination for customers across the North West, featuring a large showroom with extensive furniture displays, accessories, lighting, and a customer restaurant. The store was highly successful and helped Cousins establish a strong presence in the region.

At the end of 2019, Cousins was offered the opportunity to have the Manchester site purchased and redeveloped. This allowed the company to return its main focus to its West Midlands roots while continuing to serve customers in the North West through its online presence and distribution network.

Following the closure of the Manchester store, Cousins expanded its Midlands showroom portfolio by opening stores in Shrewsbury and Newcastle-under-Lyme, strengthening its presence across the region while continuing to offer furniture delivery to customers further afield.

Although there is no longer a Cousins Furniture showroom in Manchester, customers in the North West can still shop the full range of sofas, beds, mattresses, dining furniture, and home furnishings online, with delivery available directly to their home.
